Guarantees and warranties

Every installation comes with manufacturer warranties, a workmanship guarantee and an insurance-backed guarantee.

Quick answer

Solar installations arranged through Glasgow Solar City come with a 30-year AIKO panel performance warranty, 10-year warranties on the Hanchu battery and hybrid inverter, and an insurance-backed guarantee through the Independent Warranty Association. That guarantee protects your system if the installing company stops trading. We install through MCS-certified partners.

What MCS certification actually means

Many homeowners have never heard of MCS, yet it is the clearest sign that a solar installation in Glasgow meets recognised standards. Here is what it means for you.

MCS is the UK quality mark for renewable energy

The Microgeneration Certification Scheme certifies installers who meet independently-audited standards for design, installation and consumer protection. Only MCS-certified installers can register your system for the Smart Export Guarantee — without it, you cannot be paid for electricity you export.

Who holds it — and why it matters

Installations are carried out by our accredited installation partner, Home Heating Services (Scotland) Ltd (company number SC484353) — MCS certified (IAA10151), TrustMark registered (3559930), Gas Safe registered (559575). Check the MCS register yourself.

The insurance-backed guarantee

The insurance-backed guarantee, through the Independent Warranty Association, covers your system if the installing company ceases trading. TrustMark registration means the work is lodged on the TrustMark Data Warehouse, linked to your property’s EPC. TrustMark also provides an alternative dispute resolution route if ever needed.

The elephant in the room — the insulation scandal

Homeowners describe the renewable energy market as a “Wild West.” There is a reason for that. Previous government-backed schemes saw work subcontracted to uncertified installers, causing real harm. The government consulted on an Installation Assurance Authority and a public register of approved installers in June 2026. What protects you here: named installer, named company number, named accreditations, registered work, and an insurance-backed guarantee that survives the installer.
